Rob TOonen spoke on Echinoderms, these include, starfish, urchins and sea cucumbers. The very first thing I learned was the proper pronunciation...it is eK-I-no-derm. (he corrected the MC that was introducing him)
Rob is a professor at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology on Coconut Island.
You can tell that he is quite comfortable lecturing to big crowds. He had some
very amusing comments and anecdotes regarding the students at UC Davis in California.
Rob covered a broad range of topics including species that were really not very appropriate for our aquariums but were still commonly found in petstores. He gave a nice varied list of acceptable ones that anyone should be willing to have. He also showed the mechanics of how some of these amazing creatures function.
