General Fresh Discussion ALthough this board is primarily of saltwater interest, many of us like to dabble in both sides of the aquarium hobby. Here is the spot to talk about issues relating to freshwater tanks.

Here is the link to help you insert an image.

I moved your question down to Fresh water. Gouramis do not get pregnant they lays eggs. Is your fish looking swollen? Try the picture again and we will see.

Like said above, gouramis don't get pregnant. Your fish may be eggbound, but I think that constipation would be a more likely diagnosis. Try feeding them some deshelled green peas and see if that helps her bloating. If not, then she may very well be egg bound. I can't really tell if its a female or a male though.....

I would keep a very close eye on it. I had a gourami that looked like that just before I realized that it had dropsy. Watch closely for scales sticking out. You would then have to QT the fish and treat for dropsy.

It may just be eggbound, or bloat, but well worth keeping an eye out IMO.

Unfortunately I've never had any success with dropsy. Maracyn is one medication that might help. Are the scales sticking out at all? It is best to QT the fish when treating with meds. The other fish don't necessarily need the meds.
You could try adding some epsom salts to the water to help elliviate the bloating whether it is dropsy or not. It would be extremely helpful to know tank size, tankmates, water parameters, water change schedule and when last water change was and how much.
